Jon Culkowski joins the Windings team as Senior Principal Engineer leading the Research & Development department

Windings Welcomes Jon Culkowski

Windings Inc. is proud to announce that Jon Culkowski has joined our engineering team as Senior Principal Engineer as Head of Research and Development, effective December 1, 2025. With more than 35 years of engineering experience and over two decades specializing in electromagnetic machines and devices, Jon brings a depth of knowledge that aligns directly with Windings’ commitment to technical excellence and innovation.

A Career Spanning Land, Sea, Air, and Space

Jon has held key engineering roles at Moog and Allient (formerly Allied Motion), where he worked on electromechanical and electrohydraulic assemblies for critical applications across land, sea, air, and space. His track record includes supporting systems in defense, aerospace, and automation—sectors that closely mirror Windings’ strategic focus.

He holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo and has also earned a Capstone Certification in Power Conversion and Control from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Jon’s education and hands-on experience give him the tools to tackle the most complex design challenges with confidence and clarity.

A Familiar Face at Windings

Jon is no stranger to Windings. Since 2004, he has collaborated extensively with our New Ulm team on custom stator and rotor assemblies. He’s also worked with our Moorpark facility (formerly McCully) and brings first-hand knowledge of our capabilities and culture. His familiarity with our people and processes means he’s ready to hit the ground running.

Deep Expertise in Motor Design and Packaging

Jon’s career has been defined by bridging the gap between electromagnetic design and mechanical integration. His background includes leading projects that demand high power density, high-speed operation, and robust performance under harsh environmental conditions. His approach blends simulation-based design, thermal and structural analysis, and manufacturability—hallmarks of Windings’ engineering services model.

His addition further strengthens Windings’ ability to deliver:

  • Design engineering services
  • Ultra-high-speed custom motor solutions
  • High-torque density packaging within constrained spaces
  • Designs capable of extreme temperature, shock, and vibration endurance
  • Engineering support across prototype and full-rate production

Looking Ahead

Jon is excited to join Windings and contribute to our growth and innovation. With his blend of experience, energy, and familiarity with our team, he’s well-positioned to make a meaningful impact. Please join us in giving Jon a warm welcome to the Windings team.
