Our process for aerospace component manufacturing has helped to position us as an industry leader in electromagnetics.  Our diligent process has created a proven model for manufacturing, and we have honed specialized forms of the process for specific projects that require more than normal rigor, for example, creating a clean space to minimize FOD (foreign object debris) for more projects with more stringent requirements.

As an engineering company specializing in electromagnetic components, designing, prototyping, and manufacturing for the aerospace industry calls for us to follow specific requirements.  To ensure the stringent requirements of the Aerospace industry are met consistently, Windings’ Quality Management System (QMS) Certifications include ISO9 001:2015 / AS9100-D, ITAR Registration, RoHS 2002/95/EC, and NADCAP Accreditation. In addition, Windings’ employs J-STD-001 Application Specialists and a J-STD-001 Certified Instructor to ensure the highest quality soldering operations.

Windings has been a trusted supplier of custom electric motors, generators, and electromagnetic components to the Aerospace industry for over 50 years. Founded in 1965 to produce AC synchro motors used in commercial and military avionics, Windings is well versed in the design and regulatory requirements driven by the unique environmental hazards and performance challenges associated with air and space operations.

Windings partners with numerous government agencies and prime contractors to deliver a wide variety of electric motors (including AC induction motors and brushless DC motors) and other critical aerospace motor components. Generally, AC Induction Motors are suitable for constant velocity applications while brushless DC motors are better suited for position control and highly dynamic applications. Both motor technologies are suitable for aerospace applications as they can be adapted to tolerate harsh and unpredictable environments. From fluid pumps and flap actuators to antenna positioning and solar array deployment, Windings’ products can be found on a wide variety of fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and spacecraft.

Certain applications, particularly those in outer space, are extremely sensitive to the presence of foreign debris such as dirt and dust particles. Because of this, any product intended for use in outer space must be manufactured in a strictly controlled environment by specially trained and certified personnel. Prior to moving into our current facility, Windings invested in a dedicated Clean Space manufacturing area to better serve our Aerospace and Space customers. Windings’ on-site Clean
