Moving Coil Motors

Windings Inc. designs and manufactures a complete series of Moving Coil Motors, Low Inertia, and Tachometers. The Moving Coil Motor series is in the higher torque range of most frame sizes offered today. These low inertia, high torsional rigidity motors are designed for applications that demand the highest rates of acceleration and deceleration.

They are also preferred in applications where no cogging and minimal torque ripple is important. This allows them to precisely follow any time/position move profile over a wide speed range. Continuous rated torque from 22 to 500 oz·in., with peaks to 1400 oz·in. are available. Seven basic models are offered in sizes from 2.7 to 5.5 inches in diameter.

Many options are available to enhance the performance, customer interface, and positional feedback. Forced air cooling, which approximately doubles the continuous ratings, is designed with interior baffling to remove the heat at the source. Various mounting, shaft configurations cabling, and connectors are commonly incorporated. Installed feedback options include an integral analog tachometer, and the kit encoder of your choice.

A repair service is also offered for the tens of thousands of motors now in the field. Windings knows that "time is of the essence," and has structured its repair department for quick turnaround. The process includes a complete evaluation and cost estimate before repair.
